Skin UMP-45 Motorized (Motor) was added to the game in February 2024 as part of The Kilowatt Collection. Its design, with its meticulously textured metal surface, looks as if an internal combustion engine has been converted into a submachine gun. Finish type "gunsmith" allowed the authors to completely transform the appearance of the weapon, turning it into a complex mechanism with many externally visible parts, such as wires, hoses, pipes and switches. As a result, the weapon looks both mysterious and technological.

The skin was selected from Steam Workshop, where it was originally published under the name Assembled Engine. Its authors were skinmakers LEFTY and gdreamer. In an interview with our portal, they talked about their work on the skin and shared their opinion about the game.
How did you come up with the idea of creating a skin?
Lefty: It’s simple, the idea came to me when the 4.4 liter N63 engine on my BMW X6 broke down, after its breakdown, the eternal search for a new engine at the disassembly site, I got the idea to transfer V-engine for a weapon in CS2.
Were there any difficulties in creating it and how much time did it take?
Gdreamer:I created the technical part of the skin. At first and during the creation of the model, I did not experience any difficulties, everything went like clockwork, as if in one breath, I caught inspiration. By the way, I think that with this skin I have improved my modeling skills quite well.

The main hiccups started when I started fixing the bugs in the development, because the skin was made in a special way, and then I fixed the textures from the bugs. It took me a lot of trial versions of the skin and edits, I adjusted them to different color versions of the skin, but in the end I achieved the result that I planned.
How do you distribute work in your team?
Lefty was responsible for the idea, part of the concept and general design, and Gdreamer was responsible for implementation, modeling and texturing.
One of the users of the social network X noticed that the skin was created based on the BMW N74 V12, but the intake manifold is more reminiscent of a V8. So which engine is there more?)
Gdreamer: About the funny moment with the v12 - it turns out that this is my fault, I didn’t know that the v12 engine has more cylinders than there are on the skin. I also thought that the v12 inscription would look more impressive than v8. I think players and Valve don’t care much about this, the main thing is how the skin generally looks in the game and how much attention it attracts).
Are there any interesting references or Easter eggs on the skin?
Gdreamer:There is an Easter egg on the layout, in a hidden place I wrote my nickname and Lefty, as well as the date the skin was created. I think this way we will be remembered more clearly in CS history. And for me, the inscription 45 on the skin is already a meme, since I made it for rofl, and I didn’t think that it would play so much on the final decision when choosing skins for UMP, and would attract the attention of BMW fans.
Do you think there are complementary stickers for UMP-45 in the game now | Motorized or is it a completely self-sufficient skin? And how do you generally feel about stickers on skins?
Gdreamer: So far, I don’t think that stickers are suitable for our skin, since with them, the work, rich in details and relief, looks too overloaded. Maybe in the future they will add stickers to the game that will harmonize with our skin and evoke even more unusual emotions
Lefty: I think that on skins like ours, which are based on a loaded 3D model, the stickers look distorted and spoil the whole look.
Gdreamer: Stickers on skins — it's always cool, you can add a little creativity and something of your own to the skin in your inventory. What can we say, with the recent update of stickers, you can implement such ideas there that we had never thought of before.
Do you remember how you found out that your skin was added to the game? What were your emotions?
Lefty: This is not my first skin that was added to the game (the first one is MAC-10 Button Masher), I thought I would react calmly, but I was wrong, because the release of the new case was quite loud, considering that this is the first case in CS2, the first thing I saw was a post that there would be an update with a change in the sticker system, and only then scrolling through, I saw the case and our skin a little lower, the time was 3-5 o'clock in the morning, first of all I called Gdreamer and made him happy, and then all my friends and family, the greatest pleasure comes from the fact that we got into the first case in CS2!
Gdreamer: In general, how did I find out about how our skin was accepted? It was an ordinary weekday, or rather night. In the morning I had to get up to study, so I set the alarm clock. Suddenly, at night I wake up from the fact that my phone is bursting with vibrations. I thought that this was the same alarm clock, in a terrible mood I took the phone and saw something else there. Lefty calls me in the middle of the night. In the first seconds, I didn’t understand why he was calling me, and at 5 in the morning. At that time, I don’t remember that we communicated closely and we needed to discuss something.
In confusion, I answer him, and I hear his shocked voice that our skin is in the case and a big update has come out. In the first seconds I didn’t believe him, and asked him several times if it was true? He told me that this was true and they really took us. In complete shock, I hang up the call and immediately check my email, where I see the treasured letter from Valve. My emotions were just at their limit. Entering the cart, I saw messages of congratulations from my skinmaker friends, I was in seventh heaven. For several days after that I was like in a dream, this feeling cannot be described in words.
I think I have not yet fully realized that this really happened, but I am proud of myself.
Do you often play CS after the release of Source 2? What problems are the most noticeable now?
Gdreamer: After our skin got into the case, I became even more excited about this game, and I play it often with pleasure. And when you also play with your skin, it adds unique emotions that almost no one has felt.
Lefty: I played, I play and I will play. CS2 is a great game, especially after the game switched to a new engine. The new engine brings many new features for creating skins and other content. The game certainly has problems, but that’s normal, the main problem now is cheaters, but I think that this year Valve will solve this issue.
Do you communicate with other skinmakers or is this a more closed community?
Lefty: we all communicate with each other, the skinmaker community is friendly and There will always be people who can help you or make a general skin. We even see some of the skinmakers in real life. We are all ordinary people who just want to bring something different to our favorite game!
Gdreamer: I think the skinmaker community is unique and different from everyone else. Here almost everyone is ready to help each other, give ideas or point out mistakes. While in it, you are filled with the desire to move on, to keep up with those who can do more than you. You are constantly filled with inspiration. I don’t regret one bit that I joined this community.
You also have a very interesting skin for Zeus in your Workshop. Do you think we will see him again in CS2?
Gdreamer: Zeus is also a collaboration between Lefty and me, the technical part of which was again carried out by me. I am attracted by the idea of this skin, I believe that it brought me to the style of creating work that I was striving for and with which, in fact, we ended up in the case. I hope that it will also see the light and end up in the next case, I want to fill the game with our creativity and remain in history stronger and stronger.

Are you currently working on something interesting that definitely deserves a place in the game?
Lefty and Gdreamer: At the moment we are working on ideas to surprise players even more and throw more of our work into the game.
