The update released overnight on September 17 touched several parts of the game. It introduced 17 skins, a new way to obtain them, plus minor interface tweaks and community-map updates. Here’s what you need to know.
Genesis Collection
With the collection’s launch came a new acquisition method. Items from this update are available through a tool called the “Terminal,” which drops as part of the weekly reward pool. Exact drop statistics are not yet known.
The Terminal looks like a chat with a seller: they offer to sell you one of the weapons from the collection—showing both the skin’s float and its price. You can accept the offer or decline to see the next one. There are five offers in total, and you can’t go back to previously rejected options. If you decline all five, you receive a set amount of XP instead of a skin as compensation.
You can use the Terminal for three days after it drops. Unused Terminals can be bought and sold like cases.
The rarest skins in Genesis
The Genesis Collection contains 17 skins, including two Covert and three Classified weapons.
M4A4 Full Throttle
The rifle’s body features a vivid pairing of acid green and black with a pattern reminiscent of a spiked monster hide. This skin has a good chance to catch on—high-contrast designs tend to be fan favorites.
AK-47 The Oligarch
The second Covert skin in the collection is AK-47 The Oligarch, finished in a luxurious blend of white, gray, and gold. Multiple textures are combined here, and the curved contours of the gold and white overlays lend the rifle a distinctive futuristic look. It may not be for everyone, but it will surely find its fans.
MP7 Smoking Kills
MP7 Smoking Kills will definitely appeal to anyone collecting anime-style skins. If your inventory already includes Temukau or items from the Neo-Noir series, this design will fit right in. A neon-toned illustration of a girl sits on a dark backdrop, with purple accents on select parts of the weapon.
AWP Ice Coaled
AWP Ice Coaled expands the family of blue-green gradient finishes—earlier we saw the AK-47 Ice Coaled. The minimalist look—with the scope, barrel, and some parts kept black while the side panels are coated in a vivid gradient—will really shine with low floats, and it pairs nicely with a variety of stickers.
Glock-18 Mirror Mosaic
Another Classified entry in Genesis is Glock-18 Mirror Mosaic. It’s less flashy than the previous skins but makes up for it with intricate detailing. The grip is left gray, while the slide and upper section are covered in a geometric pattern reminiscent of stained glass or a glass mosaic.
MAC-10 Cat Fight
Among the Restricted skins, the standout is MAC-10 Cat Fight. Most of the side panel is taken up by a striking illustration of a furious cat, while the magazine sports a black-and-brown geometric stripe motif.
Other additions and improvements
Beyond skins, this update delivered several technical enhancements. The most notable are:
A new system for adding scripts to maps, plus a demo map showcasing its functionality.
The ability to view a player’s loadout in Spectator Mode.
New grenade sounds for each action (inspect, pulling the pin, etc.).
Improved subtick system behavior.
