A New Era for Skin Trading on Steam

CS2 Update on March 5 – Trade Revolution and Inferno Changes

The headline change in this update affects how items listed on the Steam Marketplace behave. Players can now continue using their skins even while they're actively listed for sale.

How It Works

Weapons with skins listed on the Marketplace remain in the player's inventory and can be equipped in their loadout. This resolves a long-standing frustration where sellers had to choose between rocking their favorite skin and putting it up for sale.

Key Restrictions

While an item is listed, it cannot be destroyed or modified. Players can, however, delist it at any time if they decide to keep using it.

Armory Terminal Improvements

The CS2 Armory terminal now supports setting a maximum supply cap for items. The Arms Dealer will only display listings that fall within the player's specified price range, making it easier to track down the skins you're actually looking for.

Inferno Gets Some Controversial Tweaks

The classic map Inferno has received several adjustments that have already sparked plenty of debate in the community.

A Site Balcony Widened

The balcony on A site has been slightly widened, bringing its layout closer to the CS:GO version. Many players have noted that pushing out of Apartments now feels far more natural. Previously, attackers frequently had to hop over the railing, exposing themselves to multiple angles in the process.

The updated layout improves flow for both sides: Terrorists can exit Apartments more smoothly, while Counter-Terrorists gain extra flexibility when repositioning or falling back under pressure.

Graveyard Position Removed

The Graveyard area on A site has been fully closed off, eliminating a long-standing post-plant position. Valve removed the cover in that area, effectively wiping out one of the map's most talked-about defensive spots.

Player reactions have been mixed. Many believe the change will make A site retakes easier for the defending side, as Graveyard has long been criticized for offering strong cover and awkward angles in post-plant scenarios.

Some players argued the spot was already high-risk and rarely used after the bomb was planted, while others welcomed its removal as a step toward cleaner retakes.

Second Mid Movement Improvements

Developers removed the boost to the window on Second Mid and fixed a clipping issue near the small window by the balcony, improving overall player movement through that area.

Community Map Updates

The Workshop maps Warden and Sanctum have been updated to their latest versions.

Expanded Tools for Map Creators

The update includes a range of new scripting additions aimed at Workshop map developers.

New scripting features:

  • Access to angular velocity values for entities.

  • Extended weapon ammo management controls.

  • Additional event data for bullet hit callbacks.

Bug Fixes

Valve addressed several scripting issues, including missing player state functions and a bug that prevented certain jump input detection methods from firing correctly.

The Traditional Quirky Fix

Keeping up with their tradition of small but memorable patches, the developers fixed a slight tilt in the chicken's running animation.

The Ongoing Inferno Design Debate

The update has reignited a broader conversation about Inferno's design in Counter-Strike 2. A number of players have highlighted persistent issues with the map:

  • Slow rotations between bombsites.

  • Heavy reliance on utility to contest Banana control in the early rounds.

  • The difficulty of retaking A site after a plant.

Despite these concerns, the majority of players who responded to the update have been supportive of Valve's latest adjustments. Much of the feedback suggests the balcony change improves flow, and clearing up the clutter around Graveyard should lead to more readable gunfights on A site.

Whether these changes will have a meaningful impact at the pro level remains to be seen — but the early consensus from the community is that this update is a step in the right direction.
